Grit Sequence Picker
Pick the species, the condition, your machine and the finish you're putting on. Get the SIA grit sequence for belt and edger tuned to the job.
How to use a grit sequence
Each grit removes the scratches from the previous one. Never skip more than one grit -- the next grit up has to actually be able to cut out the previous pattern. Inspect under raking light at every transition. If you see lines, go back a grit. See the Sanding Marks guide for raking-light inspection.
Hard Wax Oil and Traffic HD Raw
Both finishes are designed to read as untreated timber, so you need to sand finer than a poly floor. Stopping at 100 will look rough. The picker adds an extra fine pass for both.
